Telecel Foundation empowers Women in Ashanti Region with digital and financial skills
Telecel Foundation, in partnership with SHE HUB Ghana, has organized a digital and financial literacy training program for women in the Ashanti Region. Part of the 2024 Telecel Ashanti Month initiative, the training aims to empower women in vocational and agribusiness sectors by equipping them with essential digital and financial skills.
A total of 140 women, including hairdressers and tailors, attended the program. Nicolas Bourg, Chairman of Telecel Group, emphasized the significance of this initiative, stating, “The Telecel brand finds it important to support mothers and women with these skills considering the growing importance of vocational skills and financial literacy.”
He underscored the role of empowering women, who are the cornerstone of families, in today’s digital world, and assured that this initiative would be ongoing. “We will be doing this frequently to help our women. It has become a very important initiative to embark on, especially in the Ashanti Region,” he added.
Faustina Opoku, Manager of SHE HUB Ghana, expressed her enthusiasm for the partnership with Telecel, saying, “SHE HUB understands the importance of such initiatives, which is the main reason why we decided to partner with the Telecel Foundation.”
Rita Agyeiwaa Rockson, Head of Foundation and External Communication, emphasized the value of the program, adding, “Digital training and financial literacy are essential skills that must be encouraged among women. I believe this program will go a long way to help shape the thoughts of all the beneficiaries.”
