Speaker Bagbin sets venue for seventh meeting of eighth parliament
The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, has announced that the seventh meeting of the fourth session of the eighth Parliament will be held at the Grand Arena of the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC).
This announcement was contained in a notice issued on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, officially designating the venue for the parliamentary session. The notice follows an earlier summons issued on December 2, 2024.
The upcoming session is expected to convene Members of Parliament (MPs) and other parliamentary officials to deliberate on key legislative matters.
The recall comes after the Speaker declined a request from NPP caucus leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin to reconvene the House earlier. In a memo dated November 26, 2024, Alban Bagbin explained that Parliament would resume after the general elections to address essential matters and facilitate a smooth transition to the ninth Parliament of the Fourth Republic.
The Speaker also underscored the need for etiquette in parliamentary proceedings and called on MPs to prioritize the national interest.
Bagbin had earlier announced that the House would be recalled to sit on Monday, December 16, 2024, at 10:00 a.m.
