” …preparations are underway for construction to resume.” – board chairman, National Cathedral Ghana.

The construction of the National Cathedral is set to resume soon, as announced by the board chairman, Apostle Professor Opoku Onyinah. This decision comes after a recent meeting on September 20 between the Board of Directors of the National Cathedral of Ghana and auditors from Deloitte, a reputable audit firm. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the findings of the statutory audit report, which meticulously examined the financial activities of the project dating back to its beginning to December 31, 2020.

During the meeting, church leaders were presented with a detailed overview of the audit report, shedding light on the project’s financial transactions and expenditures. Deloitte Ghana’s thorough audit process provided much-needed clarity on the financial aspects of the cathedral’s construction. The audit itself was a proactive measure initiated by the board in response to public concerns regarding potential corruption and questionable spending associated with the project.

Apostle Onyinah, in a statement released on September 24, officially confirmed the completion of the audit report. This significant milestone now clears the path for the resumption of the project’s construction, which had faced delays due to the intense financial scrutiny. With the audit now finalized, the board is poised to move forward with the construction phase, aiming to address the public’s concerns and rebuild trust in the project.

“The need for an audit was a key demand by the church leadership and Ghanaians in general to establish the credibility of the implementation of the project. With the completion of this first report, preparations are underway for construction to resume.”

“We appreciate your support so far, and trust that the completion of the ongoing audit will renew your prayer and financial support for the NCG project.”
