Osofo Kyiri Abosom of the GUM political party to prepare unique ritual to prevent election manipulation in Ghana
Christian Kwabena Andrews, known as Osofo Kyiri Abosom, founder of the Ghana Union Movement (GUM), has announced a unique approach to prevent election rigging through a planned press conference with an unconventional ritual. In an interview on Adom TV’s The Big Agenda with Nana Ampofo Adjei, the Ghanaian priest and politician shared that on December 1 at 2 PM, he will perform a public libation ceremony, invoking 99 curses against any individuals or entities attempting to manipulate the December 7 election results.
He explained, “The aim is to pour a libation and curse those who will try to rig the elections,” highlighting that the ritual will be extensive and deliberate, with each of the 99 curses directed toward ensuring an honest electoral process. Kyiri Abosom expressed his determination to use traditional spiritual practices to address concerns about election integrity, citing past suspicions of electoral manipulation.
In addition, Kyiri Abosom commented that if there were to be a runoff between the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC), he would consider aligning with one of the major parties only if he receives financial compensation for his campaign expenses since his political journey began in 2020.
