“Not even a single one checked up on me… ” Sonnie Badu shared his disappointment in Ghanain gospel musicians.

UK-based Ghanaian gospel musician, Sonnie Badu, recently opened up about the challenging experience he faced when he was neglected by his fellow colleagues within the gospel music industry following his injury in 2023. He expressed his disappointment in the lack of support he received from his peers during one of the most difficult times of his life.

Despite being a part of the same gospel community, no one reached out to check on his well-being while he was struggling on his sickbed. Sonnie Badu shared his feelings on Joy Prime’s show, Changes, revealing his surprise at the apparent indifference of his colleagues.

“Not even a single one checked up on me. Personally, if I heard that somebody had gone through something or seen it, I would have been calling. I don’t care whether I’m cool with you or not. But not even one person did,” he told Roselyn Felli on Wednesday.

Upon realising that no one cared about his health, he motivated himself to persevere and finish the project he had commenced. “When I realised that not even a single gospel artist colleague or pastor would check up on me, that’s when I said even if I died, nobody cares; I have to rise up quickly,” he continued.

In the face of adversity, Sonnie Badu found solace in the few pastors who showed him love and concern during his difficult time. Pastors such as Nigerian Pastor Jerry Eze, Prophet Agyemang Prempeh, Apostle Amoako Atta, and Pastor Kingsley reached out to him, offering their support through social media platforms. Their gestures of kindness provided him with the motivation to persevere and focus on his recovery.

As he reflected on the incident, Sonnie Badu expressed his gratitude to God for His healing grace and protection. He revealed that the injury, which initially seemed life-threatening, miraculously shifted from his head to his leg, sparing him from a potentially fatal outcome. Despite facing criticism from some Ghanaian social media users who questioned the truth in his injury incident, Sonnie Badu remained steadfast in his faith and determination to overcome the obstacles.

The challenges he faced only fueled his determination to deliver a stellar performance at his December Rhythms of Africa concert, despite the lingering effects of his injury. Sonnie Badu’s resilience and unwavering spirit in the face of adversity serve as a testament to his faith and perseverance.
