Kumasi’s first direct UK flight delayed, set to arrive later this week
The Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) has postponed the very first direct flight from London Gatwick to Kumasi Prempeh I International Airport, initially scheduled for December 3, 2024.
In a press release, GACL explained that the delay was due to short notice, with the rescheduled flight now expected to arrive later this week.
The new service, a partnership between GACL and Ethiopian Airlines, marks a historic milestone by making Kumasi the destination for Ghana’s first direct international flight outside Accra. This initiative is part of GACL’s broader efforts to improve connectivity and boost regional development.
Though the revised date for the opening flight has not been announced, GACL confirmed that the second scheduled flight, set for December 15, 2024, will proceed as planned.
GACL reassured travelers and stakeholders of its commitment to delivering quality services and advised them to stay informed through its official communication channels.
This direct flight is expected to significantly enhance tourism, trade, and investment opportunities for Kumasi and its surrounding areas. It also highlights GACL’s dedication to expanding air travel options and promoting regional growth.
