K-Drama community shocked as actor Song Jae-rim was found dead at his home
Korean drama actor Song Jae-rim has sadly passed away at the age of 39. Best known for his role in the popular series Moon Embracing the Sun, the actor was reportedly found dead at his home in Seoul by a friend, confirmed by Seoul Seongdong Police.
The friend had arrived at Song Jae-rim’s home around 12:30 p.m. to meet him for lunch when they discovered him. Police stated a note was found at the scene, and no evidence of foul play was detected. Although the precise cause of death remains unknown, authorities continue to investigate.
Song Jae-rim’s family has released a statement saying a private funeral will be held exclusively for family members, scheduled for November 14.
Korean news outlet Soompi reported a “two-page letter” was located at the scene. Alongside his well-known role as a warrior in Moon Embracing the Sun(2012), Song Jae-rim also appeared in Actresses (2009) and participated in the reality show We Got Married in 2014. Other notable works include roles in Inspiring Generations, Hot Ramen, Cool Guys, and Queen Woo. His most recent performance was in the musical La Rose De Versailles, with his last appearance on October 13.
Fans across social media quickly shared messages of condolence. One Twitter/X user expressed shock, saying: “WHAT!! I can’t believe this. Yesterday I was rewatching We Got Married. Rest in peace and my condolences to his family and friends.” Another fan wrote, “I just finished Queen Woo and this news saddens me deeply. Rest well, Song Jae-rim.”
