Jared Bush Named Chief Creative Officer of Walt Disney Animation Studios

Walt Disney Animation Studios announced a major leadership change on Thursday, appointing Academy Award-winning filmmaker Jared Bush as its new chief creative officer, effective immediately.

Bush, the creative mind behind popular films like “Encanto” and “Zootopia”, as well as the writer of the Oscar-nominated “Moana,” takes over from Jennifer Lee. Lee, who has been the studio’s CCO since 2018, will now shift her focus entirely to filmmaking, where she will continue to lead the highly successful “Frozen” franchise.

Lee originally joined Walt Disney Animation Studios in 2011 as the co-writer of “Wreck-It Ralph” and the writer of “Frozen.” She is now concentrating on directing “Frozen 3” and co-writing “Frozen 4” with Marc Smith.

A longtime Disney veteran with over a decade of experience, Bush will now oversee the studio’s creative endeavors across films, series, and other associated projects, the company stated.

Bush is currently involved in the development of “Zootopia 2” and is also serving as the writer and executive producer for the upcoming “Moana 2,” set for release in 2024 and 2025, respectively, according to Disney.
