“…I don’t see anything wrong if you are a gospel artiste and want to collaborate with secular musicians…” – Joyce Blessing.
Ghanaian gospel musician, Joyce Blessing, recently shared exciting news about her upcoming collaboration project. In a recent interview on The Afternoon Show on TV3, she revealed that she is currently working on a “powerful gospel song”with none other than rapper D-Black and Highlife singer, Kwabena Kwabena. This unexpected collaboration showcases Joyce’s open-minded approach to music, emphasizing that talents, whether gospel or secular, ultimately come from God.
Joyce Blessing’s willingness to work with non-gospel musicians has sparked some discussions among her fans. She made a thought-provoking point by highlighting that her hit song “Victory”was actually written and directed by Kuami Eugene, a non-gospel artist. This example serves as a testament to her belief that God’s gifts are not limited by genre or style. By mentioning her past collaboration with Joel Ackah, a non-gospel singer, Joyce illustrates how initial skepticism from fans can turn into admiration once they appreciate the music’s message.
“My victory song was written by Kuami Eugene, he directed the video and did everything. I only promoted it. So there’s nothing wrong collaborating with them. The talent they have is also from God so we cannot sit here and close our eyes and say King Paluta is not from God because he is not singing gospel,” she remarked.
She continued: “All of them, God gave them the gift they have so I don’t see anything wrong if you are a gospel artiste and want to collaborate with secular musicians because I have one coming up with D-Black and Kwabena Kwabena, it’s oncoming.”
Despite potential backlash from some quarters, Joyce remains steadfast in her decision to collaborate across genres. As she reflects on past experiences and the evolution of her music, Joyce Blessing continues to push boundaries and inspire listeners with her latest single ‘Overdo’, now available on all streaming platforms.
