Electoral Directive: votes for Madam Akua Donkor to be classified as rejected ballots

The Electoral Commission (EC) has confirmed that any votes cast for the late Madam Akua Donkor in the 2024 presidential election will be considered rejected ballots. The decision comes after her unexpected demise following the printing of ballot papers that already included her image and the logo of her political party.

The Commission stated that votes for the deceased candidate will not count as valid votes and urged the electorate to take note of this directive before casting their ballots.

In an official statement, the EC reassured the public that all election officials, as well as agents representing the presidential candidates, have been duly informed of the decision to ensure transparency during the vote counting process.

The EC emphasized the importance of voters adhering to this directive as they exercise their civic duty in the upcoming elections.
