Denzel Washington speaks out against social media’s influence
Renowned American actor Denzel Washington has expressed strong criticism of social media and its influence on the younger generation.
In a recent interview with Mescal, Washington highlighted the challenges posed by social media, lamenting its negative effects on today’s youth. He noted that such pressures did not exist during his own formative years.
“I pray for your generation because we did not have to deal with what you’ve to deal with. It’s our fault to put it in your hands,” he said.
The actor, who revealed that he does not have any social media accounts, emphasized the overwhelming nature of constant online interactions. “There were no nine million opinions every moment of my day, people that liked you then suddenly they hate you. You don’t understand why,” he explained.
Washington added, “I never had an Instagram account and LinkedIn,” underscoring his personal decision to avoid social media entirely.
The actor’s remarks reflect his concerns about the pressures of modern digital life and his hope for a more mindful approach to navigating these challenges.
