Cardi B defends herself against Elon Musk’s “Puppet” insult at Kamala Harris’ rally

Elon Musk ignited controversy over the weekend following his criticism of Cardi B’s speech at a rally for Democrats. After a technical issue with her X feed led to a pause in her address, Musk labeled her “a puppet” on his platform, accusing her of being “fed words.” He condemned her as “inauthentic and unempathetic,” prompting a swift rebuttal from the rapper.

Cardi B, who described herself as a product of poverty and a daughter of immigrant parents, challenged Musk’s claims about her authenticity. “I’m not a puppet, Elon. I’m a product of welfare, I’m a product of section 8, I’m a product of poverty, and I’m also a product of what happens when the system is set up against you…. But you don’t know nothing about that. You don’t know not one thing about the American struggle,” she responded. She also cheekily asked Musk to “fix my algorithm,” referencing changes he made to X.

Cardi’s speech at the rally emphasized her support for Vice President Kamala Harris, detailing her reasons for backing the Harris-Walz ticket and expressing her frustrations with Trump’s policies, especially regarding women’s rights and economic inequality. “Like Kamala Harris, I’ve been the underdog, underestimated, and had my success belittled,” she noted, highlighting the extra challenges women face in achieving success.

Concluding her remarks, Cardi criticized Trump’s economic policies, stating, “Hustling women out of their rights is disgraceful.” After the rally, she maintained her critique of Trump, asserting that he only seeks to enrich himself and his wealthy friends.
