Archbishop Duncan-Williams demands apology and retraction over defamatory claims
Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams, General Overseer of the Action Chapel International Ministry, is demanding both a public apology and retraction from the online portal ghanacelebrity.com for publishing what he describes as false and damaging claims about him.
Through a formal letter sent on October 15, 2024, by his legal representatives, Sustineri Attorneys, Duncan-Williams expressed his outrage at a report circulated by the portal, alleging that his son had secretly exposed him in a conversation with pastors concerning Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s presidential ambitions.
This publication was widely shared across social media platforms including Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, and X (formerly Twitter), significantly increasing its reach.
The legal representatives have asserted that the report is defamatory and entirely misleading, designed to damage the reputation of the Archbishop. The lawyers further described the publication as “malicious and vexatious,” accusing ghanacelebrity.com of intentionally spreading misinformation to mislead the public.
In their letter, the attorneys demanded an immediate public apology and a retraction of the story, arguing that such measures would help mitigate the harm caused by the baseless claims. Failure to comply, they warned, would result in further legal action to protect the Archbishop’s reputation and ensure accountability.
The legal team emphasized their determination to pursue this matter to its fullest extent to safeguard Duncan-Williams from any reputational damage inflicted by the false report.
