Ghana Police intensify efforts to address post-election violence
The Ghana Police Service has arrested 106 individuals in connection with disturbances that occurred after the recent elections.
In a statement, the Police also announced the arrest of nine additional suspects linked to an attack on the Electoral Commission (EC) office in Ayensuano, located in the Eastern Region.
The suspects are currently in custody and assisting with investigations into the incidents of violence and vandalism. The attack on the EC office is one of several reports of unrest that emerged across the country following the polls.
To address the situation, the Police have intensified efforts to identify and arrest those responsible, underscoring their commitment to ensuring accountability. “All arrested individuals are undergoing legal processes as we work diligently to restore order,” the statement read.
The Ghana Police Service assured the public of its dedication to preserving peace and security across the nation. Citizens were urged to exercise patience as investigations continue and were encouraged to cooperate by providing any relevant information to assist in apprehending offenders.
