Kwabena Kwabena reflects on his divorce and near mental health crisis
Ghanaian musician and songwriter Kwabena Kwabena recently spoke about the emotional struggles he faced following his second divorce, revealing he nearly experienced a mental health crisis similar to comedian Funny Face’s. The “Adult Music” artist admitted that, during this period, he empathized deeply with Funny Face, who has publicly battled emotional challenges following relationship troubles and separation from his children.
In an interview with Ghana News TV, Kwabena Kwabena shared that his friends played a significant role in the dissolution of his second marriage. Reflecting on Funny Face’s journey, he said, “It was very difficult when I ended my marriage. I can say I was not far from what happened to my brother, Funny Face. Every time I see him, I cry because it could have been me. So, let us keep our brother in our prayers.”
The musician expressed gratitude for his recovery, attributing his resilience to his faith. “I’m thankful to God that I’m still alive and sound. I didn’t know how I got out of that situation,” he shared.
When asked about his new gospel single, “Fakye Me,” Kwabena Kwabena explained that he wrote it during a time of personal hardship. “I wrote that song when I was going through a lot. I asked God to forgive me if I had done something wrong because I am only human. I can make mistakes, but should my mistakes lead me to such a situation?”
Kwabena Kwabena, who married Abena Owusuaa in 2010 following his first divorce, went through another highly publicized divorce in 2017.
