“So if you no beef @davido, your song won’t sell?” – a fan to Wizkid.
The long-standing contention between Nigerian afrobeats artistes David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, and Ayodeji Balogun, better recognized as Wizkid, has once again come to the forefront. The recent clash between the two music icons ignited when Davido teased his fans with a sneak peek of his upcoming single for 2024.
Coincidentally, Wizkid was gearing up to unveil the initial track from his highly awaited “Morayo” album. The tension escalated when Davido’s associate, Kayode Yajaur, also known as Black Tycoone, took to social media to taunt Wizkid, “Tell your Daddy to drop an album already,” suggesting that he should release an album soon. This post was perceived as a direct jab at Wizkid by many.
In response, Wizkid, undeterred by the provocation, threw shade at Davido’s camp on X (formerly Twitter),“P***y boys dropping mid again,” followed by, “Una don tire! Make una go rest small!” insinuating that they were releasing mediocre music once again. The subtle war of words continued as fans joined in, with one accusing Wizkid of seeking attention by engaging in feuds “So if you no beef @davido, your song won’t sell? Wizkid vehemently denied this accusation “I don’t beef wack niggas! We all know he’s wack! No talent!” he fired back and went on to criticize Davido’s musical abilities, labeling him as lacking talent.
He further disgraded Davido’s albums as mediocre and boasted about his own superior musical creations. Despite the escalating exchange, Davido opted to maintain his silence, refraining from publicly entering the ongoing feud. The rivalry between these two prominent figures in the Nigerian music scene seems to persist, fueling excitement and speculation among their fan bases.
